INTRODUCTION

Now that you have completed your basic scuba diving course and you have done some diving, you may be interested in gaining additional diving skills and experience. You may also be interested in learning how to navigate underwater so you don’t have to keep coming to the surface to see where you are! Taking the NAUI Advanced Scuba Diver course will help you gain the additional experiences and skills you are looking for.

The NAUI Advanced Scuba course is designed for the newer diver who wishes to try other types of diving and to become proficient at underwater navigation. In this course you will be taught both natural and compass navigation, learn how to plan and conduct safe deeper diving, plan and conduct a wreck dive (no penetration), and learn how to plan for and actually dive at night which is a fantastic experience. You will also learn the procedures used to conduct safe boat dives, recover objects underwater with the use of a lift bag! You will conduct a total of six dives during this course.

COURSE INFORMATION

The NAUI Advanced Scuba Diver course will consists of two classroom sessions, one day of navigation dives, one deeper dive, and one night dive.

The price of the NAUI Advanced Scuba Diver course is $275.00. Your tuition pays for the classroom and open water instruction, a two-tank boat dive, and your certification materials.

ENROLLING IN THE COURSE

To ensure that each student receives the maximum benefit from the training provided in this course, enrollment is limited to a maximum of students; this is done on a first come, first served basis.

AGE REQUIREMENT: The student must be at least 15 years old at the start of the course. Parental consent is required for students under the age of 18.

PREREGISTRATION: To guarantee yourself a place in the next available course, you can preregister by submitting a $150.00 deposit (which is credited toward the course fee). Checks are made payable to the course instructor. Only the first 6 people who preregister will be guaranteed a place in the next course. Along with your paid deposit, you will receive a preregistration packet, which contains additional course information, course forms, and course study material (textbook and tables). Please note, however, that this deposit can only be refunded if a doctor certifies that you have a medical condition, which prohibits you from participating in diving activities. Any individual who simply does not show up for the course after having preregistered will forfeit the $150.00 deposit.

SCUBA MEDICAL HISTORY QUESTIONAIRE: As with any sport, scuba diving can place physical demands on your body. Scuba diving with certain medical conditions (known or unknown to the diver) can, under certain conditions, cause specific medical problems. For this reason, all course enrollees are required to fill out a Medical History Questionnaire. Based on the results of this questionnaire, a medical examination by a physician may be waved, or required.

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: The student must provide the following equipment:

Tanks – 2 Pressure Gauge Primary Dive Light

BC Depth Gauge Backup Dive Light

Regulator Timing Device Personal Dive Marker

Weights * Dive Flag ** Compass

Full Wet or Dry Suit U/W Slate Save-A-Dive Kit

Fins Logbook

* Each student will need to bring a dive flag for the Saturday dive

** Inspect your compass prior to training to make sure it is functioning properly!
