Now that you have completed your basic scuba diving course and you have done some diving, you may be interested in gaining additional diving skills through taking your NAUI Rescue Course. Although the NAUI Rescue Course is not a mandatory certification for recreational diving; it is nice to know that you have the skill necessary if needed! Taking the NAUI Rescue Diver course will help you gain the additional experiences and skills you are looking for. The NAUI Rescue course is designed for the diver who wishes to gain the knowledge and skill to perform a rescue if called upon. In this course you will be taught how to deal with prepanic/panic intervention and rescue, accident scene management, and the physical components of performing a proper rescue. With the completion of this course you will feel more confident with your diving, rescue, and safety skills! For the completion of this course you will conduct seven to eight rescue scenarios over the course of two days. COURSE INFORMATION
The next
NAUI Rescue Diver course consists of 3 classroom sessions
and 2 days of open water rescue work. The classes are held
in the scuba classroom at Andy's Sport Shop in Fitchburg.
The open water locations will be determined prior to the end of
the class.
The price of the course is $325.00 and includes the following: 1. NAUI course registration fee 2. Course textbook 3. Classroom and open water instruction 4. NAUI Rescue Diver certification card
The first night of the course each student will have to bring proof of completion of a first aid and CPR course. In addition, each night of the course, each student should bring a pen or pencil, and a small notebook or pad of paper to take notes with. ENROLLING IN THE COURSE To ensure that each student receives the maximum benefit from the training provided in this course, enrollment is limited to a maximum of 8 students; this is done on a first come, first serve basis. AGE REQUIREMENT: The student must be at least 15 years old at the start of the course. Parental consent is required for students under the age of 18. PRE-REGISTRATION: To guarantee yourself a place in the next available course, you can pre-register by submitting $150.00 deposit (which is credited toward the course fee). Checks are made payable to the course instructor. Only the first 14 people who pre-register will be guaranteed a place in the next course. Please note; however, that this deposit can only be refunded if a doctor certifies that you have a medical condition, which prohibits you from participating in dive activities. Any individual who simply does not show up for the course after having pre-registered will forfeit the $150.00 deposit. SCUBA MEDICAL HISTORY QUESTIONNAIRE: As with any sport, scuba diving can place physical demands on your body. Scuba diving with certain medical conditions (known or unknown to the diver) can, under certain conditions, cause specific medical problems. For this reason, all course enrollees are required to fill our a Medical History Questionnaire. Based on the results of this questionnaire, a medical examination by a physician my be waved or required.
